JENNIFER ALLISON: OWNER/INSTRUCTOR
Jennifer fell into the footwear industry unexpectedly after studying Fashion Design at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. Upon graduation she has had the opportunity to live and work throughout Canada, United States, South America, Europe and Asia fine tuning her craft and gaining industry experience designing for various companies such as ALDO, Abercrombie and Fitch, AWAMAKI and Pour La Victoire.
Her work has been featured in many publications such as Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, In Style, Elle and Flare Magazine to name a few and has been worn by many reputable icons such as Cameron Diaz, Anne Hathaway, Blake Lively and Rihanna.
After working in the industry for a handful of years Jennifer decided to move to Peru to volunteer as a Designer Resident in the Sacred Valley. Falling in love with the Peruvian way of life she stayed much longer than originally planned to work with the artisans on a full-time basis.
Jennifer is currently in the process of collaborating with the Quechua Communities to develop her own fair trade Accessory line incorporating the rich Peruvian traditional textiles into a range of fashion products with a modern Canadian twist. Stay tuned!
ROBIN FITZSIMONS: GUEST INSTRUCTOR
Robin Fitzsimons is the maker / designer / founder at Fitzy. She believes in a less but better approach to design, with a focus on natural hard wearing materials. She wants to make things that make lives easier, and make sure that you get your money’s worth.
Robin founded Fitzy as a response to the fast fashion movement. She wants the products she buys to be made by people who are paid fairly, and treated ethically, and she wants those products to last a long time.
Fitzy is a line of modern leather goods that are handmade in Toronto. Designed for the busy urbanite, our products are meant to simplify your life both visually and practically.
We believe in a less but better approach to fashion. This means that we want our customers to be thoughtful shoppers, buy well made
products that they truly love, and will stand the test of time. We make our products using high quality hard wearing materials so that they don’t just stand the test of time, but get better with age.
DOROTHY: SHOP DOG
Dorothy is a fabulous french bulldog who holds a very important role at The Art and Sole Academy.
She has been a shoe lover for as long as she can remember. Her favourite footwear designer is Jimmy Chew and loves the movie Wizard of Oz. She would do anything to get my paws on a pair of ruby slippers.
Dorothy loves meeting new people and giving free kisses and cuddles throughout our classes. She spends the majority of her days chewing her bone and playing with her toys although every once in a while she will circle the room to make sure everyone is on schedule.
If you are interested in signing up for a class but feel uncomfortable with pets in the studio please send us an email in advance at email@example.com and we will give her a day off!
