As Art and Sole continues to grow, we are committed to actively fighting against racial injustice and being held accountable to the pillars of our action plan:
This past week we have come to realize that we need to raise our voices and use our platform to promote meaningful change. Silence is a privilege. Moving forward, we’re committed to listening, learning and becoming an actively anti-racists business.
We recognize that systemic racism and police brutality are not unique to the United States. Discrimination against black and indigenous people is very much a part of Canadas past and present.
We will ensure that our imagery and content reflect true diversity. People of all color will be represented and celebrated in our brand marketing, social channels, emails and in re-posted generated content.
We will continue highlighting the amazing makers who step through our studio doors via our social media platforms and Sole Stories blog series. We will make sure that everyone is represented in an equal matter and have the opportunity to share their stories and works of art with our community.
We are looking into where we are spending our dollars and making sure that the values of the suppliers we deal with are in line with our company mission of inclusion and quality.
We are building a library of anti-racism resources. We have created a living folder of books, movies, podcasts , articles and non-profits to hold us accountable and encourage our ongoing anti-racism education. We understand that we have a lifetime of learning and unlearning ahead and are committed to doing the work.
ADDITIONAL ACTIONS WE HAVE TAKEN TO DATE:
We are always looking for ways to improve. Feel free to leave us constructive comments, DM's or emails. As we resume posting content and promoting our programming in the upcoming weeks we will continue to reflect on how we can become a more socially conscious business inside and outside of our community.
